Baked Prime Time Asparagus with Ham and Cheese in Puff Pastry
Ingredients
- 18 spears Prime Time Asparagus
- 13 oz puff pastry
- 6 slices ham
- 6 slices cheese (Cheddar, Gouda, Edam or Mozzarella)
- 1 egg beaten
- 1 tsp poppy seeds
- 1 tsp sesame seeds
- fresh basil (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 F. On a floured surface, roll out the puff pastry into a ¼ inch thick rectangle. Then cut into 6 equal size squares. Lay down slices of ham (they might need to be cut down to size) diagonally, then 3 Prime Time Asparagus spears per pastry, and top with a slice of cheese or 2 tbsp of grated cheese.
- Bring one corner of the puff pastry over and brush the tip of it with a beaten egg, then fold the opposite corner, so it overlaps, press down with a fork to seal. Arrange on a parchment lined baking sheet 2 inches apart, brush the top of the pastries with a beaten egg and sprinkle with a mixture poppy and sesame seeds. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden. Garnish with fresh basil leaves, if desired. Best served fresh.
